Hi! I’m Chloe.
I am 11 years old, and I have been going to the same school since kindergarten.
So when my parents told me that we were going to New Zealand for a year I was excited, but I was also a little sad. As you can probably imagine, because I have been going to the same school for six years, I have some really good friends.
Overall, though, I am super excited for the year ahead. Two years ago for Christmas, I got a travel book with all the countries in the world in it. That definitely helped expand my desire to travel. I have been looking up a bunch of the countries that are near New Zealand, like Fiji, New Caledonia, Tasmania, and Tonga.
I’ve also played a game with my book called “where is that country?” While playing that game I discovered a country called the Pitcairn Islands, which has a population of only 50 people! I don’t think we’ll be visiting that one!
We leave in a few days, and I’m excited for a giant public rockslide that is really close to our new home, but mostly I’m excited for the adventure ahead. Last night my dad taught us a few phrases that they use a lot in NZ, like ‘kia ora,’ which means ‘hello.’
I’ll write more once we arrive. School starts on July 23rd, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. But for now, tootles!
