Have you heard about the no homework policy in New Zealand? Crazy right? I think that I may have figured out why this might be.

Honestly, Kiwi kids are 100% too busy with sports to even think about school at home.

Now don’t get me wrong, Kiwi kids are just as smart as American kids. But on the sports side, the Kiwis just squash us like a bug. Don’t believe me? I’ll prove it to you.

I’ve been here for roughly 8 months and I have most likely done more sport than I would do in 2 years in DC. Last week on Thursday I did a triathlon, on Monday we had school swimming competitions, Tuesday I had an hour of swimming after school, Wednesday all the 6th and 7th graders had to go to the pools for the whole day plus an hour of horse riding after, and today I had another hour of swimming. Notice a theme?

My mom keeps complaining to me that she gets way too many emails about all the sport opportunities for me. Some as insane as basketball from 6:30am until school starts, to triathlon trainings every Friday at the beach. Can’t I get a break? 🙂

Do you want to guess what time we go to bed during sleepovers here? The answer is about ten o’clock. It’s because everyone is so tired from all their sports that they couldn’t go past ten at night if they tried. To be honest it’s quite nice though, because isn’t that the point of the day time? I don’t know, that’s just my opinion.

I bet you when we get home we will pack our schedules with plenty of sports and activities and most likely end up stressing out about how far it is to get to all of them. That is one of the glories of Gizzy – everything is only 10 minutes away! Sadly it will end soon.

I’m going to go to bed now because I’m super tired. So, Toodles!
